Kansas Oil Production

Based in Addison, Texas, Sentry Energy Production LLC offers drilling services to partners in the energy sector. Sentry Energy Production LLC works with businesses throughout the United States and is currently drilling for oil in Kansas.

While 2013 saw the continuing decline of natural gas production in Kansas, oil production remained on the rise, with a 7.2 percent increase from the year prior. This increase was in large part due to the integration of horizontal drilling in fracking along the border adjacent to Oklahoma. Areas that showed the highest levels of production included Comanche County, Barber County, and Harper County, which doubled its oil production within one year.

However, the regions that boast the highest bounty of oil in the state are located in central and western Kansas. Counties like Ellis, Russell, Ness, and Stafford are among the top producers of oil. In these counties, vertical drilling is still used.

The gradual increase of drilling for crude oil in Kansas began in the early 2000s, when crude oil prices were relatively high. In 2010, the state saw an increase in oil production along the Mississippi Lime. As of January of 2014, the Mississippi Lime had 334 horizontal wells.
